Amber Eyes Review

BLURB:  After an accident, one she shouldn’t have walked

away from, Lexi’s life finally begins. She meets Dez, a new

student with the most beautiful eyes she’s ever seen. And

since gazing into them, Lexi has had vivid waking dreams that

pull her back through time, and into the warm embrace of a

mysterious stranger—a stranger who becomes all too familiar

When offering an explanation for her detailed visions, Dez

changes her world forever with two simple words: Soul mates.

For the first time in her life, Lexi feels safe and complete. But

lingering in the shadows is the embodiment of evil, coveting

the light within her. He’s a threat to Lexi’s very existence, and

to a love that has transcended time.

My Thoughts: With an interesting premise and characters that kept my attention, Amber Eyes came to be a satisfying read.  Lexi's emotions came through so intense that I often times felt some of the things describing her feelings.  I was curious about Dez, and how the two acted with one another kept me going. Amber Eyes is a book full of twists and turns that I never even imagined. I'd love to see what more the author has to offer. This book is a YA paranormal romance written in the first person point of view, but I never felt like I was missing anything and enjoyed it very much.

Author Bio:

Jolyn’s writing career began in 2009 when she looked across the sea of cubicles at work, and thought, “I was meant for something more than this.” That thought was immediately followed by, “I wonder if I can write a novel.” Four novels and one novella later, that question has been answered. She started withAmber Eyes (Entwined Souls Trilogy – Book One), a young adult paranormal romance. They always say, with the first book, you write about what you know. And she certainly did! Drawing off her teenage years in Oshkosh, WI, Jolyn incorporated her high school and favorite haunts. She even pulled out her favorite music from back then to help recapture the teenager within.
Jolyn has absolutely no qualifications whatsoever to be a writer, other than a knack and a passion. The knack she worked hard for through betas, critique partners, writer sites, editors, etc, but the passion she’s had since she was in middle school.
Being married, and mother to one very precocious six-year-old, doesn’t leave her with a whole heckofalot of time to write – not to mention working full-time – but that is where lack of sleep comes in very handy. Jolyn has a gift of functioning on minimal sleep when totally absorbed by a writing project…although she crashes like dead weight when it’s fully completed/edited (usually 2-3 months later).
Her current listing of published books includes:
·      Amber Eyes (Entwined Souls Trilogy – Book One) – young adult paranormal romance
·      Connected (Twists of Fate #1) – paranormal romance
·      A Modern Love Story – contemporary / romantic suspense
Random information and quirks about Jolyn (because everyone has them):
·      She likes to listen to loud music. Period. But especially when she has a headache (helps to drown it out).
·      When she's overtired, she gets slaphappy. (Heaven help those around her.)
·      She titles a book before she writes it, because she's anal enough to where that would bother her.
·      She can't walk into a Barnes and Noble without buying a book. Even if she has a pile of unread books at home (which she does), it just doesn't feel right to leave empty-handed.

Links to Jolyn’s world:

There is a giveaway- one KINDLE copy of Amber Eyes is up for grabs to a commenter. Be sure to realize that it is a Kindle copy only before entering, if you don't have a Kindle. Thanks and have a great day!

Review: Farsighted

BLURB:  Alex Kosmitoras's life has never been easy. The only other student who will talk to him is the school bully, his parents are dead broke and insanely overprotective, and to complicate matters even more, he's blind. Just when he thinks he'll never have a shot at a normal life, an enticing new girl comes to their small Midwest town all the way from India. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Sophomore year might not be so bad after all.

Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival--an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to "see" the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they suggest Simmi is in mortal danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex embarks on his journey to change the future.

My Thoughts:   It's a challenge when an author writes a character that doesn't have one of their main senses available- especially when that sense is sight. Through sight, the writer can bring the book to life through their character's eyes.  The main character in Farsighted, Alex, is blind.  I feel the author executed this very well and managed to write a wonderful book using the character's other senses. I can't imagine that being easy to pull off.

The story itself is riveting and exciting. It does take a little while for things to really get warmed up and keep a fast pace, but once I got to that point, wow, I just couldn't stop. The characters are fun and exciting, and the plot has plenty of twists and turns.  The author, Emlyn Chand, has created a great book and I'm curious as well as excited to see what comes next.

If you are a fan of YA books, don't miss Farsighted.

Interview! Author Tamaria Soana interviews a character.

Hello, I’m Tamaria Soana and today I’m sitting down with Alexandria Steven’s. How are you today?

I’m doing great and you can call me Alex.

Alex, I was hoping to ask you some questions today so the readers could get to know you better.

I’m ready when you are!

How does it feel to be a New York Times bestselling author?

It’s surreal really. I feel amazingly blessed that people keep reading my books.

If you could have two whole weeks for vacation and go and do anything you wanted, what and where would it be?

I guess it really wouldn’t matter as long it was warm and I was with my incredible husband, Hudson

That is very sweet. How long have you been married to Hudson?

Four amazing years. I met him through his sister when we were in college. I fell in love with the moment I laid eyes on him.

You’re older then Hudson correct?

Yes, my sister-in-law and friend call me a cougar all the time. I’m only three years older so I’m really just a cub!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I guess it would be to be more outgoing. I usually keep to myself. I spend most of my time writing, or with my family and close friends.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, my cat Tigger. He is a huge orange and black cat that I found outside one day. He was never claimed so we kept him. He is very much a part of the family.

What do you do to relax after a bad day?

Take a long soak in the tub and have a glass of wine. Them maybe snuggle up with Hudson and watch a movie or escaping in a book.

What do you do when you are angry?

I usually write. Getting lost in my characters helps to channel my feelings and I can see things more clearly.
Where do you want to be in your life ten years from now?

Professional, still writing. I’ll keep spinning the stories as long as people keep reading them.
In my personal life, I would like to be raising children, and living out the American dream with my husband.

Being a romance author what do you consider romantic?

That differs from day to day. I may find that Hudson bringing me a snack and something to drink to my study on a night that I’ve been writing for hours romantic, or him taking me out to dinner so I don’t have to cook. My favorite is when he draws me a bath and forces me to relax. I guess I find a simple gesture that is driven by love very sexy and romantic.

I would to thank Alex for taking time out of her busy schedule to grant me this interview.

Thank you, Tamaria. I had fun.

My Thoughts:  Shadow of Deceit is an excellent suspense novel from start to finish. The pacing is intense and kept me engaged and interested the entire time. Along with the suspense, there's a very emotional aspect about the book that had me shedding a tear or two from time to time. Mal Olson creates characters that sizzle and that are easy to like. You can relate to them in one way or another, and I felt many of the things that they were feeling. The jam packed action, emotion and sizzling tension combined together makes for one heck of a wild ride that readers aren't going to want to get off of in the middle. No, this book is a read in one sitting kind of story. Shannon and Tony are great leading roles and they make the sparks fly together.   If you're a fan of romantic suspense, add Shadow of Deceit to your list of reads. Mal Olson is on my list of authors to watch- and buy!

Need some more enticing? How about an excerpt?

Shannon sat, stalled, her heart pummeling like prey snagged in an icy hunter’s trap.
Someone knocked on her window.
Heart in her throat, every muscle in her body tensed as she jerked her head toward the passenger side and looked through frosted glass into the face of Special Agent Tony Crazaniak.
Relief uncoiled the knot in her stomach. She’d never been so happy to see anyone in her life. She unlocked the door, and he opened it.
“Jesus, what the hell was that all about?” He dipped his head and plunked a snow-clogged foot onto the floor mat as he grabbed her bags and tossed them over the seat.
“I don’t know, and I wasn’t sticking around to find out.”
Cramming six-foot-plus inches of man into her Porsche was like stuffing two hundred pounds of prime beef into a picnic cooler. But he managed not only to squeeze in and make himself comfortable, he took charge.
“Traffic’s moving, go!”
She eased the accelerator, launching forward into an ice-jammed gridlock of traffic crawling west.
“You want to tell me what’s going on?” His shoulder brushed against hers when he shifted in the seat.
“I would if I had the slightest clue.”
His heat made her nerve endings prickle. And as far as telling him what was going on? The “would if I could” may not have been the entire truth, but it was close enough. Besides, she didn’t want to tell him anything. Yet.
What did she actually know?
Snow bunched on the windshield as the wiper blades plowed through thick gruel, as her brain churned, as she tried to come up with an answer the FBI operative would buy. “Obviously someone’s after me.”
“Obviously. But, who?”
“I don’t know.”
“Jilted lover?”
Snapping her head around, she glared at him. The full effect of his intense eyes sent heat waves rippling down her spine.
“No.” Cheeks blooming hot, she tugged her glance away and added, “No lovers.”
She felt his scrutiny slow-slide over her. The bloom that heated her cheeks spread down her neck.
“You ought to fix that,” said Tall-Dark-and-Scrumptious.
And the fact that she noticed that he was scrumptious flustered her. She wasn’t looking for…anything. Although, she could use his broad-shouldered, don’t-mess-with-me attitude and his FBI badge riding shotgun until she ditched the Lexus.
“Listen, I’m not…I mean…” What did she mean? “Not in the market…All I want is a guard dog until I lose the lunatic in the Lexus.”
He shrugged. “Can’t blame a guy for trying.” His smile slammed the scrumptious meter so high she heard bells ring, which made her reconsider her comfort level. She realized she would be safer, at least on an estrogen-to-testosterone level, without his massive presence and raw animal magnetism steaming up the Porsche’s windows.
Looking into the mirror, she couldn’t see the Lexus. She turned around and still couldn’t spot it. Even if it were there, it couldn’t pass four cars on Wisconsin Avenue on a good day, let alone in this snowy mess.
“On second thought, why don’t I pull over at the next light and you can hop out. If I want help, I’ll whistle.”
“I don’t think so.” He swiveled to look out the rear window, his mouth nearly brushing her cheek.
Too close. Too hot. Too dangerous.
She couldn’t pull over without getting stuck in the slushy excuse for a right lane, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t stop, and that he couldn’t let himself out.
When the line of traffic stalled again, she eased her foot on the brake and said with a prick of guilt over ditching him in calf-high muck, “End of the ride, Agent Crazaniak.”
He shook his head.
“I can make it home from here. Thanks for your concern.” Too bad he hadn’t worn boots.
He settled his broad shoulders against the seat.
“I no longer need your assistance.” She glanced over her shoulder again. “The Lexus is gone.”
“Not my style to leave a woman in distress.”
“Distress?” At the moment, he was the cause of her distress. All she wanted was to get rid of FBI Agent Tony Crazaniak.
Her attention snagged on the Tahoe in front of them, which attempted a jackrabbit start, fishtailed, and landed in a snow bank.
“Maybe when you get out, you could give the guy in the Tahoe a hand.”
“You need protection.”
She reached into the glove box and whipped out a gold lipstick tube. “I’ve got it.” Pepper spray. She waggled bouquet de Red Hot Chili Pepper at him.
“You need my protection.”
“How do I know you’re really an FBI agent?” She flipped off the top.
He eyed her small but effective weapon.
“Come on, Shannon, don’t mess around.” Raising his hands in surrender, he leaned away and grasped the door handle. “I don’t think you want to do that.”
“All I want is to go home. Alone…please.”
A nanosecond later, she found herself watching him stuff her pepper spray into his pocket. She didn’t know how the exchange had happened. Other than fast.
“Protective custody.” He patted his pocket. “I’ll get you home safely, and you won’t even have to whistle.”
Dear God, she was trapped in her car with a man who oozed so much male charisma she felt like she was drowning in testosterone.
“Seriously, how do I know your ID is legit? You could be an ax murderer for all I know.”
“You want to call the Bureau?” He offered his cell phone. “You can get the number from information. You wouldn’t want to trust a suspected mass murderer for the correct number.”
She rolled her eyes.
“It’s listed under Federal Bureau of Investigation. They’ll vouch that I’m a really nice guy.”
When she took the phone, his body heat clung to it and warmed her palm, irritatingly so. “Are you, really?”
“What, hiding an ax under my jacket?”
“No.” She scowled and thumbed in 411. It didn’t hurt to check him out. “Are you really a nice guy?”
“What do you think?”
She thought he wanted to interrogate her. And none of the nice guys she knew were pumped like Hercules. Rather than answering him, she spoke into the phone, “I’d like the number for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
The car behind them honked, and she turned her attention to driving and squeezed past the stranded Tahoe. While edging into the intersection, she concentrated on the snow squall, the taillights of the car ahead of them, and on memorizing the numbers the automated voice was reciting in her ear.
“Look out!” Crazaniak yelled as the Lexus materialized from the right, racing toward them. “The bastard must have turned off somewhere and circled around.”
“Jeez, he’s going to ram us!” Shannon dropped the phone and stomped the gas pedal. The tires whined and spun and finally dug beneath the slush. But when rubber found traction, the car catapulted forward too fast.
Streetlights whirled.
Her 944 swapped ends twice on the glazed surface and came to a dead stop in the middle of the intersection.
The Lexus revved its engine, its wheels pelting ice. Then rocketed toward them for a second attack.
Paralyzed, Shannon froze in terror. Every muscle in her body locked up. Static electricity lifted the hair at her nape. An image of the accident two years ago flashed through her mind.
“Hit the gas! Hit the gas!”

Interview with Sarah Ballance

Please help me welcome Sarah Ballance to Storm Goddess Book Reviews! I am interviewing Sarah today.

First off, tell me about yourself, and your writing.

Hi, and thanks so much for having me! I'm 34, and a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to six children, three boys and three girls ages 13 and under. That said, I don't have a *real job* (ahem) so I get to say I'm a full time author. My husband of almost 15 years doesn't read romance, but he's the best at coming up with suspense plots and, um, for "researching" the romance. ;c)

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?

I didn't start writing until I was 31. I had picked up a few freelance jobs in nonfiction when a friend suggested I write a novel. I immediately said no way, but then I wrote one anyway, LOL. I wrote the first novel, DOWN IN FLAMES, in about six months and submitted it to a publisher just so my crit partner would quit staring at me. Imagine my surprise when it was picked up on the first try! My releases now number five, with another one due out April 2. After writing that first one, a romance, I was introduced to romantic suspense and I adore it. All of my other books are romantic suspense except HAWTHORNE, a former Amazon best seller in the paranormal romance (ghost) genre.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

Most of what I write will be romantic suspense—I just love it too much to stray far. ;c) But paranormal (ghost) elements will show up from time to time, and I'm flirting with the idea of writing horror. I also have one historical romance in the works. I'm still in the stare-down phase, but it'll get written. ;c)

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?

Mostly a panster. I do have a basic idea and a few plotlines upon which I build my stories, but so many things happen I just couldn't have planned. I trust my characters to take over, and they've done a great job of it so far. (By giving them permission, that means I haven't lost control of them, right? LOL.)

What is a typical writing day like for you?

I wish I had a typical one! LOL. For the most part, I tend to my own blog and any promotions (including interviews and guest blogs I need to write or pimping my blog guest for the day) in the morning before the kids and I start school. I monitor my blog and email periodically throughout the day, and if I'm lucky I'll have some more time before dinner to make sure I'm caught up in that regard. After dinner my husband takes over the house and kids, which gives me a good four hours of writing time before I call it a night. It works great in theory, but it seems like there's always something coming up to skew things.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?

I live and breathe the Harlequin Intrigue line of romantic suspense. At any given time, I have 50 or more of them by my bed, and no matter how tired I am at night I almost always read a chapter or two before I go to sleep. They inspire me and make me long to write, and after all day with a half-dozen kids, I FEED on that inspiration. It's like someone bottled it in a paperback. ;c)

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?

I have a trio of goals. I want to finish the sequel to my best-selling paranormal romance HAWTHORNE, write my historical romance CAPTIVE, and complete STAY THE NIGHT, which is a free read I can't wait to gift my readers.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

I'd love to communicate with spirits. I think it would be more than I bargained for, but the whole idea just fascinates me.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?

I don't know a lot about mythical or paranormal creatures, so I'm just going to go with a unicorn. I've had horses half my life—I think I could handle the leap to unicorn. ;c)

Tell us a little about your latest release.

UNFORGIVEN is a romantic suspense in which my heroine, Riley, finds herself in an unlikely alliance with Gage, the ex who tore her world apart. His brother was murdered, but it was Gage who was the intended victim and Riley who was framed for the crime. When the two meet in the story, Gage has a revolver pointed at her head and revenge on his mind. Then the killer strikes again, and a split-second decision leaves them on the run from the law, alone with their broken past. In spite of what the title implies, LOL, it's a story about forgiveness … for some. ;c)

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members).

I guess I'd have to say my computer and internet since I make a living with it! LOL. But in terms of the more optional, I have to say our cabin cruiser. Being out on the water relaxes me like nothing else, and as long as my husband doesn't expect me to use the kitchen (uh, galley) on that thing, I'm in heaven!

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?

At this point, I'd say no. Mostly because I'd drive my unfortunate co-author nuts with my inconsistent writing schedule, and I really don't want a partnership to turn into a debacle on my part.

If you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?

Oh, tough question! You know, I think I'd either talk to one of my own ancestors just to find out what life was like, or, in my capacity of a suspense author, I'd want to talk to a serial killer or career criminal. (And hopefully they're not one and the same, LOL.)

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?

I bake and decorate cakes, and I used to do a lot of horseback riding until I started having babies. When I wasn't pregnant, I always had a baby or toddler which made it hard to ride often. Now most of our leisure time is spent boating.

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?

I'm going to selfishly pick one of my own, LOL. I'd love to see HAWTHORNE: UPRISING, the sequel to my paranormal romance, made into a movie. It's not even written yet, but just thinking of the secrets and discoveries therein makes my heart race.

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?

I wish I could sing. Not because I want to be a singer, but because I like to sing along to the radio, and I'd love to do so without clearing the room. ;c)

Favorite color?

Blue.

Weather: Hot or cold?

Hot. Boating weather, LOL.

Favorite place to read?

In bed.

Favorite meal

My husband's steaks grilled over charcoal and served with loaded oven-baked potatoes, mushrooms and onions sautéed in margarine, and fresh homemade rolls slathered in butter.

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.

It's a tossup depending on my mood. I love iced coffee, Coke, and sweet iced tea. I try not to drink calories, though, so when it comes to quantity-rules, it's water.

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?

Before that Italian cruise ship tipped over, I would have said I wanted to go on a European cruise. Now I think I'll just go to Italy. I'd love to spend a few weeks touring the country.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. I'm so grateful to be here!

It's my pleasure, Sarah. Glad you could stop by! :)

Until next time,

Interview and Review with Christine Warner!

Welcome Christine Warner to Storm Goddess Book Reviews!

How long have you been writing? Did you always know you wanted to write for publication?
I’ve been writing seriously for about 3 years. I’ve always written (don’t all authors say that? Lol) and known I wanted to write romance and eventually be published. So I’m pretty lucky to have succeeded :)

Plotter or write from the seat of your pants?
I’m what I term as having one leg in and one leg out…One leg is inside the pant leg and I plot and write up outlines to a certain point…but leave room to make changes. I don’t think I could plot out every single detail. The other leg is outside the pant leg because I still like to follow the simple outline, but I also give myself room to let the story change direction.

How many genres do you write in? If one, do you ever think you'll venture into another genre, completely different from what you write now?
I write light-hearted romantic suspense as well as contemporary. I could see myself maybe doing a paranormal, but it would probably be geared toward ghost stories because I enjoy those. Or maybe if I get daring I’d like to try erotica. Might be kind of fun :)

What's a writing day like for you? How do you keep a routine and set the mood for writing?
I usually wake up about 5 – 5:30 and start by going through emails, visiting blogs and feeding my addiction to all the social media sites. LOL. Then I try and work on my current WIP. If the mood isn’t there for that, I work on writing blogs or reading about craft. I’m lucky because I have most of the morning and early afternoon to work. I only work outside the home on weekends…and on those days I get nothing writing related done. As for setting the mood, I like it quiet…no music, no television…nothing.

Let's talk about your release, Some Like it in Handcuffs. I absolutely LOVE the title, by the way. I knew just by the title that this book would be funny, charming, and wonderful. ( And no, readers, I promise there was no money involved for me to write that! ) How did the idea come about for this book?
Thanks, I’m so glad you liked it :) You aren’t going to believe this, but here goes. The title actually popped into my head and I liked it. From that title, the characters and plot and storyline were born and from that I actually have come up with 4 other titles that I’ve outlined so I can write about all of Sunny Kennedy’s brothers. Each title starts with Some Like it…

How long did it take you to write your first draft of the book, and how many revisions and edits did you do to polish it up?
I have another weird writing habit. I don’t usually write a first draft. I write an outline, and it generally ranges from about 2 to 5 pages. I follow this and write my story, but I also edit as I write. So by the time I’m finished with a manuscript, it’s done except for critiques. I can’t seem to move onto the next chapter unless I know the previous ones are pretty much set. As for Some Like it in Handcuffs, this was my first book. I was learning while I wrote and every time I learned something new from critique partners or a craft book, I applied it to my story. This made for a long writing process because I ended up having to start at word one and work my way through the story several times…I think I did that so many times I could recite the book in my sleep. lol So, by the time I was done with the manuscript and ready to submit, it was close to a year.

What are you working on now?
I’m actually working on Some Like it on the Run featuring Sunny’s brother Derek. I hope to have that completed shortly and subbed. I only have about 6 more chapters to go I think :)
I’m also finishing up a contemporary romance titled Love on the Line that I hope to sub to my editor at Entangled Publishing very soon :)

What do you hope to accomplish this year in your writing career?
To keep learning, because I don’t think you ever stop improving. And of course to write some great reads, three to four if possible. That’d be awesome!

How do you plan on/ how are you celebrating release day?
I don’t know how exciting you’ll consider this, but I’m looking forward to it. My hubs and I are ordering pizza and hanging around the house. Are we dull or what? Lol As for the daytime part of my release, I’m sure I’ll be on the computer most of the day visiting blogs and social media sites and smiling from ear to ear!

What's the hardest part about writing a book? Easiest?
The hardest part is the self-doubt that sometimes looms over you. I’m just thankful it’s not a constant. There are days I feel great about every word I write, and days that I want to delete every word I write. LOL
The easiest, at least for me, is coming up with storylines and characters. I have so many story’s planned and plotted in my future works file you’d be surprised. I just don’t think I’ll have time to write them all, but I’m going to try!

Name five books in your TBR ( to be read) pile?
Oooh…my tbr pile is way out of control. I have so many books on my Nook and on the floor beside my bed I’m embarrassed. I just don’t have time to read like I used to. I have my awesome friend Brenda Dyer’s book, Love’s Prophecy, on my list. (I’m excited about this one because I promised myself I’d expand my horizons and read outside the genres I normally read…and Brenda’s book is about a vampire and I’m hearing wonderful things about it.) I also bought a book by Allison Merritt titled The Treasure Hunter’s Lady that I’m looking forward to opening. I’m also a huge Harlequin Romance fan and have a stack of those that I keep buying at the store each week…and I’m way behind on reading them. See how bad I am? lol

Five books on your keeper shelf.

The Bible :)
GMC by Debra Dixon (yep, a book about craft…lol)
1984 by George Orwell
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
And pretty much any romance book that holds my attention and thoughts long after the story has ended.

What are some of your favorite hobbies/ pastimes outside of writing?
I love to cook and take walks, especially in the fall. I enjoy a good laugh and spending time with my family…because for some reason they make me laugh! I love board games And my hubs and I are starting to travel a bit more in the summer, nice long road trips like we used to do when we were first married, and I love it!

Could you ever co-author a book with someone? Who would be your ideal writing partner, and what would you write?
This sounds horrible, but I don’t think I could or would co-author with someone. I think trying to mesh two author’s works would be asking for trouble. I think writing is a solitary occupation. At least for me. I could see maybe writing a book with stories from several authors, but not trying to collaborate on one story. And for those who can do that, more power to you :)

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?
I wish I could play the piano. My daughter plays and I’ve always loved listening. When she was little and had recitals, I would close my eyes while she played and just let the music take me away. There’s something so soothing about the piano.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
LOL…I just discussed this on my blog on one of my Friday Fun Facts posts. I’m going to go with the super power of speed….think of all I could accomplish in a day!

If you could spend a day with any person from the past, who would it be? What would you do?
I’d love to spend one more day with my mom and dad. Does that count? They’re from my past. They’ve been gone about 5 years now and I think about them everyday. As for what we’d do, just spend the day together laughing and talking…and of course enjoying my dad’s awesome spaghetti with the bestest, most ginormous meatballs ever! YUM!!!

What's the craziest thing you've ever done/had to ask for research?
This is a tough one. I can’t think of anything really crazy. I do have plans to head down to the local police station and ask a few questions for a story I’m working on. I don’t know what to expect, crazy looks or annoyed ones, but I’m going to give it a try and see if they’ll answer my questions.

Now some YOU questions!

Hot or cold?
Neither…how about warm. lol

Favorite place to read?
Outside on the front porch in nice weather, otherwise in my living room. I have tons of windows in that room and there is lots of light. It’s perfect.
Favorite color?
Red. Love that color. Bright and vibrant. When I painted my kitchen red everyone thought I was crazy, but after it was finished I got tons of compliments on it. It’s one of my favorite rooms…the color just makes you feel alive!

Favorite food-
I love Italian food…pizza, pasta…you just can’t go wrong!

What is something you can't live without (besides loved ones).
At this point I’m going with my laptop. I’m obsessed with writing and love being able to create characters and new stories.

What is a type of book/writing style/genre you'd love to see make a comeback?
Okay, I’m probably going to get dinged for this, but I used to get the biggest kick out of reading the old bodice ripper books. LOL…is that bad? To this day my sister and I will laugh about how the heroes in those stories were so arrogant. Our favorite thing they’d ask the heroine afterward was, “I didn’t mean to scare you. Are you all right?”
That just makes me laugh. If the hero tried some of the stuff nowadays that he got away with back then, any self respecting heroine would bop him upside the head. As well she should! lol

Tell us something that readers don't know about you.
I have a slight addiction to Hallmark Christmas ornaments. I have so many ornaments I could probably decorate at least 3 full sized trees. I just can’t stop myself, though I do limit my yearly consumption of new additions to 3 :)

Anything you'd like to share?
Only that I enjoyed visiting your blog and I so appreciate you taking the time to read my book. I’m thrilled you liked it. And I want to thank everyone for coming by! This was fun :)

Thank you, Christine, for taking the time to answer my nosy little questions and for stopping by. It has been fun. I loved reading your answers!

BLURB:  Sunny Kennedy, the only female in a family of blue blood male detectives, is determined to prove testosterone isn’t the only qualification required to solve a cold case. Handcuffed while undercover then taken to the precinct by an attractive detective, her domineering family demands she work with Detective Judson Blackwolf, or she’s off the case.
Judson Blackwolf thinks women in law enforcement should work behind the scenes. The prospect of working with his Captain’s sexy daughter doesn’t thrill him. He only agrees in hopes of solving the murder of his one time mentor’s daughter. Once the case is over, he’s moving to Montana to heal his wounds from the loss of his last partner.
But when their investigation takes a dangerous turn, Sunny and Jud soon realize their feelings for each other cannot be denied.

My Thoughts:  I knew from the sound of the title that i was going to be in for a fun and exciting ride. I was not mistaken.  Some Like it in Handcuffs kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. Sunny makes for a great heroine, and she's so sassy, smart, and independent. her quirky but lovable family cracked me up. Despite how they treat her sometimes, being the only woman in the family, they do it with the right intentions, even if it doesn't always look that way. And Judson, whoa! He is a perfect match for Sunny!

The sexual (And non) tension between the two could start a fire. Electric! Wow. You can tell there's definite chemistry from the get go, even when Sunny doesn't want to admit it.

Christine Warner's debut novel will thrill readers that enjoy light hearted romantic suspense. There's just the right amount of suspense, angst, and drama. I felt very connected to Sunny and Judson throughout, and was very sad to see the story end when it did for the mere fact that I wasn't ready to leave these characters yet.

I dare you to pick up this book and not enjoy it. I can't wait to revisit the Kennedy clan and anyone else that this up and coming author has to give. My advice- don't miss Some Like It in Handcuffs!

Christine is sharing an excerpt today. I hope it entices you to get yourself a copy of this book.

“This isn’t how I wanted it between us.” Judson grabbed the neckline of her sweater, dragging her body to meet his with a solid thump. Sunny licked her lips in answer to the question in his eyes. He lowered his head to move his mouth over hers.
Sunny closed her eyes, a small whimper escaping her lips. She didn’t want it like this either, but that wasn’t possible. Unable to resist her attraction she accepted it wasn’t an affair, or a long distance romance she craved, but for him to love her back. It was all or nothing for her. Her heart sank. She accepted this as their goodbye kiss.
With no thought to what was happening upstairs, Sunny rose up on her toes demanding more. Her lips pulsated against Judson’s. When his hand trembled against her cheek in a soft caress she lost touch with reality.
“Judson.” Sunny’s weakened body drifted farther into Judson’s as his fingers glided down her arms, pulling them to her sides where their fingers intertwined. He forced them behind her before his tongue thrust into her mouth.
Their bodies molded together, she heard her own heartbeat and his as well when he curved his fingers around her rear and squeezed.
That’s when the click of the handcuffs against her wrist connected her to the handle of the locked cupboard.
“What the hell…Judson?” She looked up at him, her knees shook, her body still inflamed with fever.
“Like I was saying, you wait here and I’ll go upstairs to check it out. Backup’s already been called, so you’re safe until your brothers arrive.” Judson winked before walking toward the steps to the third level. Once he reached them he turned toward her and smiled. “Gotcha,” he whispered with his notorious grin.
