Interview with Ashley and Hunter from 7 Days of Seduction

Hi, and welcome! I've got a very fun interview today!   I love it when characters come out to play....Come on and meet Ashley and Hunter from 7 Days of Seduction, by Jenna Jaxon!

Hi Ashley, Hunter...Welcome! Make yourself comfortable!

“So tell me, how did you approach your author about your story? I'm well aware of how  those like you just pop up out of nowhere

Ashley:  Well, I got drunk and slept with a really hot guy and my ex-boyfriend and didn’t remember a thing.  Just like in the Katy Perry song, “Last Friday Night.”  That’s kind of how I got Jenna to write my story.  She said it intrigued her because she wasn’t much of a party person.  She could let her imagination run wild and live vicariously through me!

ME: I love it when a song is inspirational. Music has that affect. :)

“Care to share a juicy detail about yourselves that we may not otherwise know about you? Oh, come. Let's call it a little game of truth.”  < Winks>

Hunter:  Well, if you’ve read the book, you know I’m game for anything.  At least once.  I’ve even flirted with the idea of a MMF hookup with Ashley and somebody else.  *Looks at Ashley*  Not Sam.

Ashley:  Definitely not Sam.

ME:  Sounds like we just never know what's going to happen with you two..

“Is there a talent you wish you had, but currently don't have?

Ashley:  A talent?  Hmmm.  I think I’d like to be able to cook gourmet meals.  *Winks at Hunter*  Food can be so…sexy.

ME: gourmet meals...Ahh yes. Food is a way to a man's....stomach..and apparently, other things to these days

“Without getting you in to trouble, either of you....what is your biggest turn off?

Ashley:  Wimpy guys.  Had too many of those.  I like a little forceful in my life.

Hunter:  A woman who drinks.  Drunk and out of control can only lead to disaster.  *glances at Ashley*   Well,  99.9% of the time.

ME: I can understand that. On both responses.

“Biggest turn on”?

Ashley:  A smokin’ hot body. *eyes Hunter’s six-pack abs through his polo shirt*  Yep.  That’s it.

Hunter:  A woman who’s open to experimentation of any type--food, activities, sex.  I like things “colorful.”  If she’s game, I’m gonna be all over her.  *grins*

“Pet peeve?”

Ashley:  Guys who leave the toilet seat up.

Hunter:  Girls who won’t let me be a gentleman.  *winks*  I’m into opening doors.

ME: I live in a house full of guys, Ashley....I refuse to even use the hall bathroom. LOL

“Other than loved ones and the absolutely necessities,  what is one thing you can't live without?”

Ashley:  A challenge.  I need someone or something to challenge me or I get bored.

Hunter:  Books.  I read and write constantly.

ME: I know so many people that need a challenge, Ashley. I totally understand that. And Hunter- so with you on books!  On the reading AND writing part!

“Favorite way to relax and wind down?”
Ashley:  Out on the porch there’s a huge freestanding hammock.

Hunter:  We like to go out there in the evenings, around twilight, and curl up together.

Ashley and Hunter:  Naked.

ME: I want a hammock in my backyard.....

“Where is a place you'd love to travel to?”

Hunter:  Australia

Ashley:  France.

“Biggest fear?”

Hunter:  Losing Ashley.  *reaches over and takes Ashley’s hand*  Life is so fragile.  It’s gone in a blink.  I fear that most.

ME: Isn't that the truth, Hunter.

“Do you have ANY idea what your author is working on next?

Ashley:  Yeah, she’s working on those damned historicals she likes so much.  Two of them, in fact.  Betrothal, a medieval novella.  *makes a face*  Yuck!  And another 18th century one, Only Marriage Will Do.  She really needs to concentrate more on the 21st century.

Hunter:  Don’t worry.  She’s got a little gem of an idea in the back of her head for us.  For next Christmas.  Called “Seduction in Toyland.”  *grins*  I peeked--and I can hardly wait!

ME: Sounds like she's pretty regardless!

“What good quality do you think you bring out in one another?”

Ashley:  Trust.  We’ve learned to trust each other with the things most important to us.

ME: That's a very important one. Without trust, things aren't always the best...

“Well, I know you both are busy, so I don't want to keep you all day, but is there anything you'd like to share?”

Hunter:  Just to thank you, Nikki, for this great interview.  *winks at her*  If you ever want to come join us for dinner or…anything, just call us.  I’m sure something “colorful” could be arranged.

ME: Clears throat. I'll keep that in mind. Thank you for the invitation, Hunter...

Blurb for 7 Days of Seduction:
Ashley Thompson had a wild time at her party last Friday night. Maybe too wild. She wakes to find a video of her in the middle of a ménage a trois with her ex-boyfriend and a gorgeous stranger. Unable to remember anything about the night, other than the hot sex she sees on the computer screen, Ashley begins a search for Mr. Hunk. She has no luck until he unexpectedly shows up–in her shower.
Hunter Hopewell intends to introduce Ash to a variety of sexual experiences he finds fun and exciting. He proposes a week long series of “colorful” encounters designed to seduce Ashley out of her kink comfort zone.
As their week of escalating pleasure intensifies, Ashley must choose to let go of her inhibitions or risk losing the best damn lover she’s ever had.
Excerpt for 7 Days of Seduction:

The bathroom door opened and closed. Her hands froze.
"Damn it, Sam. Why is it every time I take a shower you have to pee? Couldn't you just hold it for once? Or pee in a cup, for God's sake?"
"I'm not Sam. And I don't have to pee."
Ashley's eyes popped open and the bottle of body wash hit the tub with a loud thunk. The husky voice she'd heard on yesterday's video and in this morning's dream was richer in person. Sexier. Her heart took off like a deer after a shotgun blast. She peered at the shower door, seeing only a shadowy figure through the opaque glass. Well thank, God, for that. He couldn't see her either.
"Hello? Are you there, Ash?" The amusement in his tone brought her back to earth.
"Yeah, I'm here. And just who the hell are you?"
"I'm Hunter Hopewell. Sorry we didn't really get introduced the other night."
"No shit." Damn. The all-important name meant nothing. The spray from the shower roared in her ears and Ashley took a step toward the shower door.
"So who are you? I mean, you say Hunter Hopewell, but I don't know you. And you know me."
"Yes, I do. I've never met you, but I've been interested in you for a while now."
Despite the hot water, chills raced over her body, standing her hair on end. Oh, my God. A stalker. I've attracted a stalker. And I'm shut in a bathroom with him. Suddenly, she couldn't breathe.
"You work over in English at the university." He knew where she worked. "And I've seen you around the campus." He'd been watching her.
She wrapped her arms around her chest, shielding her body as best she could. Maybe Sam would come in.
"You're a beautiful girl, Ashley. With lots of potential."
Potential for what? Needing to breathe or pass out, she gasped in air.
"I think you should leave." Where the balls came from to utter that sentence, she had no idea.
"Why?" His voice rose an octave.
"Because you're scaring the crap out of me."

Author Bio:

Jenna Jaxon is a multi-published author of historical and contemporary romance.  She is currently finishing revisions to Betrothal, the first book in the Time Enough to Love series. Her Georgian novel, Only Scandal Will Do, the first in a series of five interconnecting novels, was released in July 2012. Work on the second book of the series, Only Marriage Will Do, has begun. Her third full-length novel, As Long As You’re Mine, set in Victorian London and Richmond, Virginia is currently out to an agent.

Jenna has been reading and writing historical romance since she was a teenager.  A romantic herself, she has always loved a dark side to the genre, a twist, suspense, a surprise.  She tries to incorporate all of these elements into her own stories. She lives in Virginia with her family and a small menagerie of pets.  When not reading or writing, she indulges her passion for the theatre, working with local theatres as a director.  She often feels she is directing her characters on their own private stage.
She has equated her writing to an addiction to chocolate because once she starts she just can’t stop.

Author: Áine P Massie
Publisher: Geas Publishing
Series: House Millar, #1
Genre: New Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Length: Novel

Anya Millar had no memory of her life or an instruction manual on how to navigate the insane world of humans, biting, and reality. Instead, Anya has had to learn to navigate the world of love, life, and sanity while avoiding those that would see her dead or enslaved.
Anya must come to terms with who she is and her missing past, Nicholas must win back the object of his eternal love while dealing with new cravings in his silent heart, and Declán must learn to destroy the very creatures that he has unequivocally given his heart and blood.
This is the ongoing journey of Anya and Nicholas, human loving vampires and the human they love, Declán. What makes it all more complicated is that they are abominations in their own world and Declán is a natural born vampire hunter called a Guardian.

Excerpt:

After they left, I slowly rejoined Nicholas. I was very nervous, but as soon as I touched him again, I was abruptly caught up in the painful longing. This time when I pulled back I remembered what they said, and called, “Nicholas, beloved, come back to me, please.”

His eyes fluttered and closed for a moment. Then . . . his eye’s cleared. “Anya? Wow!” He lay back as if he was weak, though I knew he would truthfully be stronger than he was when he entered my home hours earlier.

“Nicholas? Are you alright?” I was sure he could hear the worry though I fought to control it.

“Alright? I am more that all right. Never in my existence.” Slowly sitting up he looked at me with unreadable eyes. Reaching out his right hand, he caressed my face. “I can still feel the power coursing through me, settling into me. I can still feel you!”

VBT: Down at the Golden Coin

BLURB: How would your life change if you met your Messiah at the laundromat?

During the horrible recession, DOWN AT THE GOLDEN COIN’s main character, former airline pilot Annie Mullard, feels she has sunk to new low when she is forced to go to a run-down laundromat, The Golden Coin, after her washing machine breaks, but it’s here she meets a messiah named Violet. Even though she can read minds, send Annie into past lives and levitate Tide with Bleach Alternative, Violet isn’t anyone’s idea of a messiah. But Violet is equipped with the wisdom, love and humor to help Annie find a way to a more authentic life, one in which Annie’s free to create her own reality and where money is not the key to happiness.

Review Rating: 4 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Review; You never know who is going to be the one to help change your life when all else fails. Annie is down on her luck, at a crossroads, and struggling with many things.  In the form of quirky Violet, Annie's world is about to change....

Kim Strickland has a lighthearted tone in her writing, and this book was quite enjoyable. I loved the messages that were part of this book. The characters really brought the story to life, and the plot moved along well. It's a quick but fun read. I'm glad I had the pleasure of getting this book for review. I'm interested in what else this author has to offer.

Interview with Elizabeth Finn

Please help me welcome Elizabeth Finn to the blog for an interview!

Thanks for stopping by today, Elizabeth. I'm glad to have you here with us!

First off, tell me about yourself, and your writing.

By day, I’m a Human Resources Specialist in Benefits. I’m the mother of a very precocious four year old, and I’m an adult student in my junior year of a business management program. I stay very busy, and somehow, I still find time to crank out stories. Though admittedly, I blow off homework
sometimes…

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?

I started writing about five years ago, but I stopped about halfway through the recently released book, Brother’s Keeper. I put it away, started a family, lived a busy life, and just stopped writing. It wasn’t until this past spring that I finally pulled that manuscript out, dusted it off (proverbially speaking), finished it and submitted it. Brother’s Keeper was just released on 10/22! In the midst of finishing that manuscript, I also wrote, submitted and had published my first release, The Devil’s Pawn, which was released on 9/17. And now, I have my third book, Restoring Jordan, set to release on 12/17! All three of these books fall in to the contemporary erotic romance genre, though I’m completing a fourth book that falls in to the paranormal erotic romance genre.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

I have thus far published in the contemporary erotic romance genre, but I love paranormal, and I’m just finishing my first paranormal erotic romance that I hope to have contracted soon!
Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?

Plotter to a degree. The books definitely evolve as I write them, but I have a general idea of where the story is going to be going. I don’t think I could ever truly be a pantser.

What is a typical writing day like for you?

Sadly, as I work a day job, my writing day usually starts after my son is in bed. I can usually put in a good full day on the weekends, but for the most part, I write late in to the evening hours once my house has quieted down.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?

I have read a lot from Johanna Lindsey, and she is definitely one of my favorites! She writes historical, which oddly as much as I love her stories, I’ve not yet taken a stab at a historical… Someday perhaps…

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?

I really just want to maintain the pace that I’m at right now. I’ve been submitting a book about every one to two months, and I’m enjoying it so much—everything from the writing to the editing process, that I want to keep up with. It seems a bit daunting at times with school and work and family, but I’m anxious to keep going!

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

Oh goodness. Just one?.. How about the ability to melt calories as I eat… Yes indeed, that’s the gift I want/need.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?

A cat that can use a toilet and requires no litter box. Find me one of those, and I’ll be your best friend forever! If not that, I’ve always wanted to own Falcor from the Neverending Story.
Tell us a little about your latest release.

Here’s the official blurb for my 10/22/2012 release, Brother’s Keeper:

Rowan is ready to embark on a new life as the recipient of a scholarship in ballet to Michigan State University. Having lost her mother at an early age and being subjected to the abuse of a destitute drunken father, she has known unimaginable loss and heartache and been left wanting for a better life—a life that is finally within her grasp. But with one ill-fated phone call, her life is turned upside down. Logan is her best friend’s much older brother, his own career taking off as he prepares to graduate law school and move cross country to the prestigious law firm that has offered him a very lucrative contract. When Rowan finds herself at Logan’s mercy after he inadvertently learns of the abuse she has suffered at the hands of her father, their lives become intertwined in a way neither ever imagined nor wanted.

In an effort to protect her but with his own hands tied by her unwillingness to report the abuse, Logan strikes a deal requiring Rowan to stay at his apartment whenever there is a chance her father might be on a drunken binge—which is often. For her agreement, he will keep her secret. But soon, their time together weighs on them both, and they find themselves constantly tempted to step outside the bounds of their supposed platonic relationship.

When Rowan once again finds herself in the clutches of her father’s drunken rage, Logan’s long held resolve to keep their relationship innocent crumbles, and he’s left fighting his own desires in order to protect her virtue while craving his own indulgence in her as well. But though the boundaries of their relationship become foggier by the day, his passion and love for her does not. But there is no point, because the devastating fact of the matter is that their lives are moving in opposite directions—a relationship destined to die.

The ever present clock plagues them both as it ticks off the days until they are parted. But is being apart from one another truly possible? Is life beyond their time together livable? How can you survive when your other half is taken from you? And the most important question of all, how will he protect her from a father intent on hating her until the day he dies … or the day he kills her?

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
Laptop!

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?

I’ve co-plotted a vindication story with a very near and dear person in my life. I’ve not yet co-authored with anyone, but with the right person, I could definitely get on board. It would most definitely be erotic romance. Sub-genre… I think it would be fun to do something paranormal or action packed, rather than dramatic. I think a pair of writers could really kick up some suspense as a team!

If you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?

Gosh… another hard one. Julia Child, and she would teach me to boil water and perhaps cook a bit too…

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?

I love movies, spending time with my girlfriends, trying new restaurants, and I love doing all of those things with a good glass of Chianti in my hand.

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?

I think my 9/17/2012 release, The Devil’s Pawn, would make an awesome movie.

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?

Is being an extrovert a talent? I’m shy by nature, and I wish that I had the ability to stow my shyness on occasion and live out loud and with no limitations. Here’s to wishing!

Favorite color?

Green

Weather: Hot or cold?

How about cool – I love 60 degrees.

Favorite place to read?

In bed.

Favorite meal

Pasties (stew mean, potatoes and onion wrapped up in a pie crust and baked)

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.

I love love love Coke. I never drink real coke because of the sugar, but I love it, and it’s a guilty pleasure when I feel like being naughty.

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?

I would find a secluded cabin in the woods or mountains. The weather would be sixty or so degrees, and I would write… I would maybe or maybe not have a man with me, or maybe I would just send him away when I was done with him, so I could write some more after he’d inspired me… Now that’s where I’d like to be right now.

The Devil’s Pawn
Elizabeth Finn
When Ashton is left orphaned after her parents are murdered, her life becomes a hell she could never have imagined. Left to fend for herself, and responsible for a debt she doesn’t owe, she is swept into a life as a gentleman’s escort at a private men’s gaming hall. Her new manager makes it abundantly clear he doesn’t appreciate her inexperience, innocence, and shyness. On the contrary, he despises everything about her.
Derek can be “difficult,” she’s been told. And however dark and handsome he may be, he terrifies her in a way that chills her to the bone, but leaves her begging to understand him. As they are pulled along together, more secrets and threats than either one could ever conceive are revealed, and a common enemy emerges. This enemy will stop at nothing to bring Derek to his knees while using Ashton as the greatest pawn in his torturous game.
Will Derek be able to let down his shield of cold, harsh emotion before it’s too late? Will he be able to sacrifice himself to save Ashton, or will they both be destroyed by the secrets of their pasts?

Excerpt:
Once in the fitting room, Derek takes the chair again while I start to remove my clothes. I intentionally wore ugly, stretched-out, white cotton underwear that is entirely too big on me in the event he should be here. My mouth isn’t the only thing that can get me into trouble—my sarcasm knows no bounds when I’m unhappy.
As he sees the appalling excuse for an undergarment, his eyes move up to mine, narrowing darkly at my obvious defiance. I look coolly back at him before looking away dismissively. My anger and resentment of him from the humiliation he subjected me to the previous morning, not to mention his treatment of me over the past two weeks, have charged me into a bold, fiery bitch that no longer cares what retribution I might face. While my tongue usually gets me in trouble, today I decided to let my underwear do the talking.
Jacob enters with an armful of dresses for me to try on, and he cringes as he takes in my defiant granny panties, hated the world over by men, including, apparently, gay men.
He turns to Derek, and with a scrunched-up face, he worries out loud. “The dresses aren’t going to lay right over those…” He tosses a nod in my general direction.
Derek wastes no time at all reassuring Jacob and striking back at me. “No worries. Ashton was just taking them off. She won’t be wearing underwear anymore.”
I glare defiantly back at him as I drop the loose fabric to the floor. He returns the glare for a moment before letting his gaze travel down my body to my sex, and as it lands there, smoldering with heat, I turn abruptly from him, intentionally showing him my backside instead. I look to the mirror in front of me, and I catch his eyes flit away from me in annoyance. He worries his lip with his thumb and index finger as he contemplates, and the slightest of smirks crosses over his mouth. Jacob is standing by looking from one to the other of us, obviously wondering just exactly what he’s gotten himself in the middle of.
Derek finally looks back to Jacob. “Get on with it.”
I try on one after the other of the dresses. Some are perfect; Jacob pins in additional alterations in others. Derek sits by bored, only glancing up from his cell phone occasionally. One such occasion is when Jacob remarks that I’m “just not curvy enough for this one.”
Derek looks up to Jacob, but he shifts his eyes to mine before commenting, “Yes, well, if you can figure out some way of making her look female, you let me know.”
Jacob again lets his eyes pass between us, seeming to wonder all the while what he’s missing. As I hold Derek’s eyes with my own, my anger falters, and the pain that is behind my fury pushes through. I try to wrangle my tears into submission, but it’s no use. In defeat, first one, and then another spills from my eyes and slides down my cheeks. Jacob regards my state and excuses himself from the room.
I stand on the hemming block in the center of the room, refusing to look at Derek. But he’s looking at me, and as my hurt continues to work through my entire body, I let my tongue do what it does best. “Why do you hate me so much?”
He says nothing, but stands and moves to me. Reaching around behind me, he pulls the zipper of the dress down, and then, returning his hands to my shoulders, he pulls the straps down, exposing first my small breasts, and then the rest of my naked body as it falls to the floor.
He leans in to my ear and speaks. “You don’t know anything about me.” He then takes me by the hand and pulls me to stand in front of the mirror, and leaning to my ear once more as I watch him in the mirror, he speaks gently. “Lean forward and put your palms on the mirror.”

My Publishing Muses

I was asked a very interesting question for this blog. It was one that I don’t believe I’ve been asked to write about before and it really got me thinking. The question was “what three people inspired your path to publication?”

Christine Feehan. Like most authors, I started as a reader. I fell in love with paranormal romance novels when I read Christine Feehan’s novel Dark Prince. Oh. My. God. It was like…where has this been all my life? Let me tell you something, if they assigned books like that in high school, I would’ve read a hell of a lot more. Christine Feehan got me going but I’m inspired by all of my fellow authors. I want to be better and write as beautifully as so many of my peers do. They raise the bar and keep me moving forward.

My parents. One of the greatest blessings in my life has been to have Carol and Charlie Taney for parents. Since I can remember, they have encouraged me to follow my passions, work hard and chase my dreams. They taught me that nothing is outside of our reach if we work hard enough and remain true to the things that we really love. When I said I wanted to try and publish my first novel, there was no hesitation. They smiled and said, “Go for it!” Unwavering support. Unconditional love. That’s the birthplace of inspiration.

My husband. He’s the biggest cheerleader I’ve got. When I told him about my desire to publish my first novel he said, “Excellent. What do we need to do?” We. He didn’t say what do you need to do. Nope. It was we. We’re a team and we’ve been tackling life together for the past 18 years. Kids. Bills. House. Work. Publishing has been no different. Many husbands might have balked at the idea of their wife writing and publishing sexy romance but not my guy. Some guys might’ve rolled their eyes and treated it like nothing more than a pipe dream but not Will.

My very first royalty check arrived the other day and he happened to be home having lunch with me. (A special treat for both of us.) It seemed only fitting that he was there when I opened that envelope. It’s his success as well as mine because I couldn’t have done it without him.

How about you? Who inspires you?

Spotlight: The Hot Shots

The Hot Shots
Stephanie Queen

Decorator Sophia Alano’s career gets side-tracked from the moment she meets hot shot Scotland Yard detective Chauncey Miller. On the run in Boston, Chauncey must now protect this spitfire Pixie from the madman out for revenge. But once he catches their would-be killer, how does he hold onto his Pixie decorator?

Chapter One Excerpt:
“I have a favor to ask,” Grace said from behind her desk, pencil in hand and dimple in place. “I need you to pick up David’s latest recruit from Scotland Yard at Logan Airport today and keep him busy for the day. Show him around.”
Sophia couldn’t stop her usual sarcasm in spite of the fact that Grace was her boss as well as her best friend. This so-called favor made no sense. Even for Grace.
“Are you serious?” Sophia planted her hands on her hips. “Let me make sure I understand you--You’re asking me to babysit one of David’s Scotland Yard hot shots on the eve of my possible career breakthrough?”
Grace nodded. Her big blue eyes were wide and honest. Something was up.
“That’s crazy talk. Tomorrow’s the shoot for the audition tape.” Sophia knew that Grace knew this since Grace helped set it up for her, but she felt it was worth mentioning the obvious.
“Yes. I know.” Grace smiled then looked back down at her drawing. “And a distraction is exactly what you need to keep your nerves at bay.”
“What? My nerves are fine.” If her dam voice hadn’t squeaked at that moment, she’d have been more convincing. Something was definitely up. And Sophia would never admit it to Grace, but she did feel a bit edgy--if edginess included nausea, headaches and sleeplessness.
“I know you.” Grace paused and gave her the serious-yet-loving older-sister type look that she mostly put up with. “This will be good for you and…and I’d really appreciate it.”
Grace was playing dirty pool now with that appreciation bit, but Sophia still didn’t buy it.
“And what if I didn’t have time today?  Were you going to tear me away from my project?”
“Actually, yes.  I wasn’t going to mention it, but some of the men were complaining about your presence at the set and asked me to have you back off just a smidge.” Grace scrunched her brow. “But don’t worry, honey, they think you’re wonderful. It’s just lately...”
“Great. That’s great.” Her hands flew into the air. “I got painters and paperhangers and carpenters talking to my boss behind my back.” This was not good. She plunked herself on the edge of Grace’s desk and folded her arms. She tried staring at the stack of fabric samples on the other side of the office so Grace wouldn’t notice if a tear slipped out. Because, damn it, she might be on the brink of crying.
Grace picked up the box of tissues and handed it to her. “You’ll be alright, Pixie honey. This is the perfect way to get your mind off everything to do with decorating and the design show audition filming and TV cameras. I’m asking for a one-day one-shot favor.”
Grace’s voice sounded a little too sweet, even for her, and “Pixie honey” or no “Pixie honey”, that was cause for suspicion.  She blew her nose. Okay, so maybe she needed a break, but she wasn’t convinced that playing tour guide to some British guy fresh off the boat...or rather airline--was the way to go.
“I’m saving up my vacation time and I don’t think you have the authority to assign me to pick up some random guy at Logan Airport and show him around town while I’m on the clock.  We’re in the decorating business.”   She remained seated on the edge of Grace’s desk, tossed the balled-up tissue in a basket halfway across the small office and re-folded her arms.  “Besides it doesn’t even sound safe.”   She blew the blunt-cut bangs off her forehead for emphasis.
Grace looked at her with that smile and said, “He’s from Scotland Yard, honey.  Of course it’s safe.  It’ll be fun.  I don’t know what you’re worried about.” Her face brightened and she added, “You don’t have to use vacation time. Consider it a client recruitment assignment.”  Grace went back to the sketch she’d been working on.
Sophia looked at her best friend and boss with a suspicious squint.  What it sounded like to her was another one of Grace’s blind date set-ups in disguise.

Review: Rawhide: Bucksins, Boots and Bondage

Title: Rawhide: Buckskins, Boots & Bondage

Author: Desiree Holt

Publisher: The Wilder Roses (The Wild Rose Press)

Genre: Contemporary menage

Heat Level: Erotic

Reviewer: Jen

Review Rating: 4.5 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Blurb: Twins Justin and Tucker Davis only want one thing--one woman to share for the rest of their lives. Angel Cruz wants two men who will cherish her forever. Sex between them is hotter than the Texas sun in August as they play out their fantasies at Rawhide, the private bondage club. But when her job threatens their livelihood, will their newfound connection be strong enough to survive?

This book is what I would classify as a Cowboy erotic romance. It is #4 in the Rawhide series that is written by Desiree Holt.  In this story, there are twin brothers Tucker and Justin Davis who have a liking for sharing their women. In the past they were both hurt by a woman whom they thought they would maybe have a future with. Justin, being the more sensitive brother still harboured resentment, bitterness , and a lack of being able to trust a woman with his heart. Tucker was ready to move on and hopefully find someone who would be interested in a ménage relationship with him and his brother. They both had a fear of having that kind of relationship in their small community thinking that the understanding just wouldn’t be there for this kind of relationship. The loneliness began to take over so that one day Tucker brought it up to his good friend Reece. Tucker’s friend explains about a place called “Rawhide Bondage Club” and how Tucker and his brother should come by and see what it is all about.
Angel, who is a litigation attorney, is at the club the night the twins show up there and the attraction between all three is immediate. Sparks fly and they decide to take it upstairs where they have a smoking hot encounter. They all choose to continually see each other and feelings start to become involved and Angel believes a future is finally possible with these two men who she is falling in love with. Conflict arises when Angel’s boss expects her to take on a case against her lovers. Sparks of a different kind fly and the question becomes; Will they all be able to find a compromise or should they just walk away?
I really enjoyed this short story and the characters in it. I was impressed with how the author was able to have so much happen in such a short read without it seeming like an information dump. The sex was off the charts! The ménage scenes were so detailed I could actually imagine very well how the men felt physically while they were with Angel. I love it when an author is able to have me picture the scene very clearly in my head as I am reading. It was also nice to have a good base story down so that it wasn’t just sex through the story There was also a good mixture of differences between the twins and their acceptance of the relationship with Angel. Her character showed a nice balance of being independent and determined, on one side and the other side she also had some vulnerability because she had been hurt before. It was nice to see her in control of herself but not coming across as overbearing.
I feel that this book is worth 4.5 lightening bolts and I am eager to go back to the beginning and read the first book in the Rawhide series. I am intrigued and want to read about how some of the characters got together with their present partners. This was the first time that I have read a book written by Desiree Holt and I can honestly say that it won’t be the last!

Review: Awakening Abduction

Title: Awakening Abduction

Author: Becca Jameson

Publisher: Ellora’s Cave

Genre: Paranormal, Erotic, Shape-Shifter

Heat: Erotic

Length: 86 Pages

Rating: 5 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Blurb: Hannah is living a normal human life in Boston, until she’s kidnapped from her bed by a man she finds herself undeniably attracted to. James is living a normal lupine life in Seattle, until he’s sent to abduct a woman who disappeared from his pack years ago.

As Hannah and James hurry across the country to reunite her with her family, they must battle his need to claim her. But their lust is overpowering, threatening to consume them both. Mating between the two wolves is unavoidable.

Will their union alone be enough to stop a crazy man from attempting to steal Hannah from James? And will her father forgive their mating and accept the union with open arms?

REVIEW:
Hannah is a woman that is living a lie but doesn’t know it. She has moved around a lot with her mother and doesn’t remember much of her childhood. Her mom can be called a little over protective. She calls her at the same times every day and expects her to answer. Hannah seems to be a well rounded woman and is pretty easy going.

James is a wolf shape-shifter. He is the right hand man of the alpha and is charged with finding his daughter and bringing her home. He is a strong and very sexy man. One that would have a leading role in every woman’s dreams.

I would like to say that if I woke up with a man on me when I was asleep and told me to come with him that I would react in a good way. Hannah seems to take it in stride. Yes she is scared and she wants to get away. Also she has feelings of passion that she has never felt before. She knows that if she wants to find out what is going on that she needs to go with James.

When she talks to her mother on the phone she starts to realize that she hasn’t always been truthful and is hiding things from her. All she knows is that her mom says that she is safe with James and she will meet her at her father’s.

Seems that James has to break the news of what she really is. She finds out that when he talks she starts remembering things from her childhood. That’s not all that is going on. There seems to be something that is pulling Hannah and James together. Something that is too strong for either one to deny.

All I will say is that things start getting really steamy and will make your blood pressure go out of this world. I enjoyed how the author wrote this book and love the characters. The story just goes smoothly and you never know what will happen next. You know that you will soon find out all the secrets that have been hidden.

I enjoyed the ending of the book and hope that you will to. I will be reading more from this author in the future. I hated that I was done just when it started getting really good. Well guess I’m off to another romantic adventure and can’t wait to tell you about it.

Review: Undercover Professor

Book Title: Undercover Professor

Author: December Gephart

Publisher: Carina Press

Genre: Contemporary romance

Heat Level- spicy

Length- 53.000 words

Reviewer name: Nikki

Rating- 3 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Blurb: Rule Number One: Must not lie.
Rule Number Two: Must not live with parents.
Rule Number Three: Must have a job.
Rule Number Four: Must not be a friend's ex.

These dating rules shouldn't be hard for Lucy Benoit to follow--after all, she made them. But she didn't plan on falling for Andy Sullivan, a scruffy-yet-attractive man who lives with his mother and is between jobs. These should be deal-breakers, but in other ways Andy is just her type. And there's something intriguing about him...

Andy isn't the geeky gamer he claims to be--not by a long shot. But what seemed like a harmless social experiment has put his chances of a relationship with Lucy at risk. Even if she can get past the silly rules she has set for herself, will she ever forgive him for breaking Rule Number One?

Review: Sometimes what you're looking for isn't going to match up with what you find. For Lucy, she has a strict list of rules. A little OCD about them, if you ask me. Okay, so she's had a bit of dysfunctional family in her past, but she is very uptight and sometimes downright annoying.

The object of Lucy's affection, much to her dismay? Andy. He's a bit secretive. He's staying with his mom, he's in between jobs, and he's okay with that. However, Lucy isn't and she lets it be known. Here's where she gets annoying. She pushes for Andy to get a job, for Andy to go to college, and when he turns her down for his reasons, she gets very annoyed.

I liked the story, but the thing that really brought it down for me was how frustrating the characters are. Lucy makes me want to reach through my Kindle and smack her! Andy isn't bad, but sometimes he got on my nerves, and Lucy's cousin Rebecca? Most annoying of all.

I was glad for the HEA, but some of the plot points were a little weak. While it was somewhat enjoyable, if the H/h weren't so stubborn and irritating, I think my outcome would have been a lot different.

Interview with Chris Redding

Welcome to the Friday after Thanksgiving. I know this is a manic day, so thank you for stopping by the blog.  Today, I have Chris Redding here for an interview!

Welcome, Chris, and thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!

tell me about yourself, and your writing.

I live in New Jersey with my husband, two kids, and various animals. I work part time at my local hospital. I am published in romantic suspense, but am working on a romantic comedy right now.

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?
I have been writing since I was ten. I’ve been writing for publication for 14 years. I have 6 books out, all but one is romantic suspense.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?
I am dabbling in writing romantic comedies. I tend to put humor in my books anyway so this isn’t that much of a leap.

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?
I was always a pantser. My time is limited now so I have learned to work from a rough outline. That way I can sit down and jump right back into the story.

What is a typical writing day like for you?
Sadly, I only get to write for about an hour in the morning. If I do any revising, that will be in the afternoon.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?
I do not have a favorite author. I’ve found too many have stopped putting out quality once they get really big.

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?
Next year, I would like to make an amount with 4 figures in it.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?
To stop time. I would stop time, go to sleep, then when I woke up I would then have a full 24 hours to get stuff done.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?
Kraken. In a big tank in my living room.

Tell us a little about your latest release.
Incendiary is a romantic suspense about a firefighter and EMT who have to join forces to track down a serial arsonist. They are former lovers and there is a lot of baggage between them that they keep tripping over.

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
Music. I’m not a musician. I can’t sing. I just love music. I write to it. I run to it and music makes both of those tasks easier.

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?
Yes, James Patterson and I’d write whatever he wanted me to.

If you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?
I love this question though my answer is not an author per se. I’d love to spend a day with Julia Child. My husband watched her cooking shows to learn how to cook when he was still single. We watched her later show on PBS together when we were first married. I have several of her cookbooks so I feel she has been a huge influence in my cooking life. And I’d love to write a cookbook. I don’t think I could list just one question that I would ask her. And we’d spend the day in the kitchen.

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?
I recently started running again. Last week I finished my first 5K. I find I have to be very in the moment when I’m running at this point so it’s good psychologically to be able to stop my brain from thinking about everything else.

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?
Ghost Road Blues by Jonathan Maberry. I think it would lend itself to be a good horror movie.

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?
I wish I could sing. I’m tone deaf. When my sister sings, it sounds like angels have descended. Me, like someone’s killing Yoko Ono.

Favorite color?
Puple.

Weather: Hot or cold?
Cold

Favorite place to read?
In bed.

Favorite meal
Pizza.

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.
Diet Coke, though I drink very little of it anymore.

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?
I would like to dive the Great Barrier Reef. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid an watched Jacques Cousteau.
